GROUNDED
Although I have concentrated on photographing birds in flight, landings, and takeoffs, birds can be beautiful standing still, perched, and walking. Of course, my favorite grounded photographs come from the early mornings when the wind is still, and the water is glassy and highly reflective. Birds show off their character in grounded photographs, or maybe we just like to impose human characteristics upon them. They preen and appear to be posing and interacting with one another. They use their wings to assert themselves, adjust their stance, and sometimes to perform ritual dances.
